Most oncogenes began as proto-oncogenes, regular genes involved in mobile boom and proliferation or inhibition of apoptosis. If everyday genes promoting cell boom, thru mutation, are up-regulated, and (advantage of characteristic mutation) they'll predispose the mobile to cancer and are accordingly termed oncogenes. Normally more than one oncogenes, together with mutated apoptotic and/or tumor suppressor genes will all act in concert to motive cancer.
